One of the objectives of EL Education’s approach is to grant children an opportunity to connect what they are learning in classrooms to real-world applications through high-quality learning experiences. The Core Practices of EL Education will effectively establish the critical components of the life of the school and support the mission of OSACPS: helping all students to become reflective inquisitors, articulate communicators, critical thinkers, and skilled problem solvers.
EL Education features a national network of over 160 schools that have demonstrated strong results working with students from all backgrounds, especially students from economically disadvantaged households, English language learners, and students with special learning needs. As the first EL Education school in southern Worcester County, OSACPS provides a model of this unique approach to school design for the area, featuring semester-long creative learning expeditions: Learning Expeditions are the basis of EL Education’s instructional model that features an 8-10 week multidisciplinary project that provides for deep, meaningful learning, and a multi-faceted experience that connects students to real-world issues and encourages critical thinking and problem solving.
