Nutrition Manager
Old Sturbridge Academy Charter Public School is seeking an energetic and adaptable Nutrition Manager to oversee food service and distribution to our k-8 population. The successful candidate must share OSACPS’s mission and EL Education philosophy, which will provide k-8 students with rigorous, real-world learning experiences in a supportive and nurturing school community, helping all students to become reflective inquisitors, articulate communicators, critical thinkers, and skilled problem solvers. Successful candidates should have a collaborative spirit of “we are crew, not passengers.”
The Nutrition Manager will report to the school principal. This person will supervise, administer, and coordinate cafeteria operations, food preparation and distribution beginning in August of 2022. Working with additional nutrition staff members, this individual will be involved with all food preparation, food distribution/delivery, food inventory, and serving food to students. The Nutrition Manager will actively participate in the school wellness committee and work collaboratively with school faculty and staff to bring nutrition education into the cafeteria and classrooms. Candidates must be familiar with, and follow, proper portion sizes and components of the National School Lunch Program as well as maintain accurate records as required by the program.
This position is a full-time, salaried position. The Nutrition Manager is expected to work every day that school is in session. Competitive salary and benefit package.

Old Sturbridge Academy Charter Public School opened in 2017 and will serve 320 students in grades kindergarten through seventh during the 2021-2022 school year. There are 40 students in each grade level. We are chartered K-8 and will have a maximum enrollment of 360 students-each year we add a grade until we reach eighth grade. We believe in hands-on learning that focuses on three levels of student achievement: mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality work. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in a number of these events, ranging from student and family orientation activities to celebrations of learning to graduation. We work together to support the safe and happy arrival and dismissal of our students, collaborate and plan together and use data to guide decision-making.
We are intentional about engaging our faculty and staff in the development of the Academy and of themselves. School wide professional meetings happen before the start of the school year and throughout. All staff are encouraged and expected to participate in school-funded professional development opportunities during the school year and over the summer as approved by the Principal.
Compensation: Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with school faculty and staff to bring nutrition education into the cafeteria and classrooms
- Coordinate daily site operations for two locations; prepare and serve all student meals
- Assign, train, cross-train, and manage all nutrition staff in meal preparation and service, cashiering, food handling, storage, and sanitation requirements
- Develop new standardized recipes and prepare quality meals providing tasteful and nutritious meals while adhering to the USDA meal patterns and production planning
- Responsible for sanitation and inventory management of all dry storage, refrigeration and freezers
- Complete monthly inventory
- Ensure accurate and confidential accounting of all students in the district for the proper billing of meals for state and federal funding.
- Prepare and submit online and phone orders for all products as required
- Complete daily production records and additional documentation required by USDA, DESE and all local requirements for all foods and services
- Attend paid and voluntary training and professional development to meet ongoing improvement of professional skills that are needed to remain proficient as a Nutrition Manager.
- Screen applicants, conduct interviews, and recommend cafeteria personnel for employment.
- Organize and implement staff training programs for ongoing operations.
- Ensure the cafeteria(s) are regularly inspected for safety, cost, comfort and cosmetic needs.
- Schedule corrective action in desired areas and submit a written report of the findings to the school principal.
- Communicate with family members in regards to school menus and selection of menu choices.
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Minimum of 1 year experience managing a self-op K-8 school nutrition program
- Prior supervisory experience required
- Self-directed, creative, motivated with a positive and patient attitude
- Must be available every school day between 6:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
- Valid driver’s license
- Basic computer skills required in Word, Google Docs, Excel; POS experience preferred
- Must possess/obtain the following certifications and training:
